A line of community members in need wrapped a block on South Central Avenue with everyone eagerly waiting to enter A Place Called Home. It was the annual Backpack to School event, and people could not have been more excited. Our Knighted Neighbors volunteers arrived ready to begin helping wherever they could. They received colored name tags corresponding to the tasks performed. Outside, with the hot sun beating down, the guests were grateful to receive cups of water from our Knights. The team worked diligently to distribute the cups as quickly as possible while under the shade of APCH umbrellas. Just inside the building, our volunteers greeted children of all ages with a passport to check off all their school supply needs. The first stamp? A smiley face to begin their journey on the right foot. Beyond the entryway, children received a brand new backpack and made their way through a u-shaped line. Here they received healthy snacks and enough school supplies to fill their packs to the point of nearly bursting open. On the far wall, a long list of local donor companies glowed. Knighted Ventures’ name was brightly shining for 1,000 glue sticks. While the day was long and hot, everyone had a great time making a real impact in our local community. Special thanks to our Knights who volunteered and to A Place Called Home for providing the opportunity!
