The day started early with clouds in the sky, a chill in the air, and a nearby DJ playing music. A ton of people, including city council member Larry Carr, were ready to begin planting new trees in Nielsen Park. Our Knights divided into five different teams each destined to plant 2-3 trees as straight and correctly as possible. Teams even took the time to name their trees, one explicitly being called Big Bertha. Though she was just a sapling, the team knew that one day she would soar high and strong. The day concluded with hot dogs, snacks, and a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the new portion of the park’s playground. Thank you to all our Knights for coming out with their families and pets. Special thanks to Sacramento Tree Foundation. Great work, everyone!
